As a younger Abbott cousin I treasured all those opportunities to share moments with Pete, even those mundane moments on tax.
Having few times in my early years to know my Horsley side, both of us have had some pricesless moments with Peter in recent times
All our aroha and love to you all

Peter guided myself and a friend, with snow pick, up a peak on Ruapehu when I was 17. We had built an igloo the preceding day and sleep on her slopes. That blue sky morning on top of that peak is still in my minds eye. A kind, compassionate, man who guided with his heart, body and mind. May he rest and visit many peaks with those he guided. Much love to Peters children, Rosie, Brian, John, Bruce, Hamish, their partners and children.

So sorry I can't be there to share in Peter's farewell today but I will be there in spirit and am thinking of, and sending much love, to the whole family. Sincere condolences to the immediate family. All my love, Graeme

Aroha mai Horsley whanau - Peter was my mentor, colleague, collaborator and a bloody good friend. Only just heard he'd passed away and in UK or would have been there in a heartbeat. One of the most compassionate, considerate and deep thinking men. My life and that of my family has been so much richer for the knowing of him and I will miss him deeply

so sad to hear this - he was my mentor, collaborator, colleague and most importantly - my friend and that of all my sons and of course Ali - such a brilliant cheeky deep thinking mind, always mischief making. Ni sa bula vinaka Ratu Peter, thank you for sharing your wonderful life - moce moce moce.
