Peacefully at Kowhainui Rest Home on Saturday 27th September 2025, aged 88 years.
Dearly loved wife of the late Rangi.
Much loved mother and mother-in-law of Tracey and Andrew, Kerri and Shaun, and the late Kim.
Adored grandmother and great-grandmother.
Loved aunty to all her nieces and nephews.
Shirley will be missed by her beloved fur baby companion Coco.
Many thanks to Dr Willem van Niekerk for his special care and support.
A heartfelt thankyou to the staff at the ATR Ward and Kowhainui Rest Home for their care and compassion in Shirleys final days.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Shirley’s life in the Forrest Lawn Chapel, 208 Guyton Street, Whanganui, Friday 3rd October 2025 at 1:30pm to be followed by cremation at the Aramoho Crematorium.

Dear Tracey, Kerri and the Lockett family. Please accept our deepest sympathy on the sad loss of your very dearly loved Mother, Shirley. She was a wonderful lady and I’m sure you were all extremely proud of her and will miss her terribly. We hope it is of some comfort to you that she has now been reunited with her dearly beloved husband Rangi and precious son Kim. Unfortunately we are unable to attend her funeral service but you can be sure that our thoughts and prayers will be very much with you at this very sad time. Lot’s of love to you all, from Kay and Gordon.
